Players Interact With Dolphins At Miami Seaquarium
A number of ATP and WTA stars traded in their tennis kits for wet suits at the Miami Seaquarium on Tuesday afternoon.
The players had the special opportunity to swim with the dolphins and learn about the tricks the talented animals perform at shows. Those who took part included Andrea Hlavackova, Lucie Hradecka, Angelique Kerber, Philipp Kohlschreiber, Vavara Lepchenko, Robert Lindstedt, Feliciano Lopez, Benoit Paire, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Lucie Safarova, Andreas Seppi, Carla Suarez Navarro and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
“It's always great to do this. This is the second time for me,” Tsonga told SonyOpenTennis.com. “It's an emotional experience, because the dolphins have some behavior close to humans. I knew they would be friendly.”
Hlavackova was thrilled to be part of the experience. “I absolutely loved it,” said the Czech. “I wanted to do it the past three years but I was always playing at the same time, so I’m glad I got the chance. I’m really happy we did it with all the Czech girls. It was a lot of fun and the instructors were amazing and helped us a lot.”
Lopez added, “It was my first time, so I enjoyed the experience a lot. It was a great feeling to be in the water with these animals. They are so smart. I was pretty confident interacting with them.”
