Wozniacki Says 'I'm On A Roll'

“I’m a different player for sure… more experienced,” the Sony Ericsson Open top seed said at today’s all-access media hour. “Feel like I’m on a roll right now.” When asked about what she does to stay in shape, her workout regimen surprised members of the media.“I do a lot of boxing training. It’s a great way to stay fit.”
Samantha Stosur, currently ranked fourth, knows that this part of the calendar was a huge contributing factor to her rise inside the Top 10 last year. With a number of points to defend over the next few months, the Sony Ericsson Open is an important event for her to perform well at.
“You like to do well whenever you can. This tournament counts for a lot of points and not having a great result at Indian Wells, a good showing here would help.”
With a breakout season last year, which saw her reach her first grand slam singles final at the French Open and a semi-final singles appearance at the year-end WTA championships, a title here would do wonders for Stosur’s confidence. “It would be huge to be able to win here. It would be the biggest tournament I’ve won to date but it’s tough,” explained Stosur. “You have to do things well both on and off the court and have certain things go your way.”
Jelena Jankovic, the No. 6 seed, has had a solid string of results after losing in the second round of the Australian Open and believes she’s on the right track to success. “I’m feeling pretty confident. I’ve played a lot of matches the last month. My game is coming back and I’m working hard.”
A finalist here in 2008, the Serbian knows that court conditions vary on a day-to-day basis.
“When I made the finals, it was sunny all week. The players and fans all enjoyed the weather,” Jankovic said. “Last year, it was quite windy and rainy, so it can be different each time.”
Li Na was the last player to appear. A miscommunication saw her practicing during the all-access hour, but when she arrived, she took a number of questions. Her husband has become a public figure in the tennis world and she laughed about his new celebrity status. “He’s more famous than me in China!” As for the snoring, she claims “he’s getting better but the bathroom’s always open.”
When asked to juggle three balls for a photo shoot, Na was completely puzzled. With a little help from a member of the media, she tried it out but soon realized a second career in circus performing was not her next calling. “I can’t do this. I prefer a racquet,” chuckled Na.
